Vehicle contamination (supplementary provision)

In addition to the provisions set out in the general conditions of carriage (PDF), the following supplementary regulation applies for Den Taxi with regard to vehicle contamination. This supplement is intended to provide transparency about situations that are not explicitly covered in the PDF.

Important: this provision constitutes a supplement to the general conditions of carriage.
The PDF remains legally leading; this section clarifies how Den Taxi handles contamination during transport.

Liability in case of contamination

If, during a trip, the vehicle is contaminated due to the actions of a passenger (i.e. beyond normal use), the passenger may be held liable in accordance with the Dutch Civil Code (including Articles 6:74 and 6:162).

Contamination includes, but is not limited to:

  • vomiting in or on the vehicle;
  • spilling liquids or substances that require professional cleaning;
  • strong odour contamination that temporarily renders the vehicle unusable.

Cost components

The compensation that may be charged can consist of:

  • professional cleaning costs;
  • additional treatments, such as odour or ozone treatment;
  • demonstrable loss of income due to temporary vehicle downtime.

Den Taxi applies the principle of reasonable and proportionate costs, as is customary within the taxi industry.

Invoicing and insurance

If costs are charged, a specified invoice can be provided upon request. This invoice is suitable for submission to the passenger’s liability insurance.

Service scope: no group transport and no minibuses; private transport for 1–4 passengers. Student transport (municipalities of Stede Broec and Enkhuizen) and healthcare transport are provided under separate agreements with partners.
